Arenal d’en Castell Beach
Arenal d’en Castell is one of the largest and most spectacular beaches in Menorca, but also one of the most urbanised, very touristy and with all kinds of services right on the beach.
Arenal d’en Castell is a shell-shaped beach over half a kilometre long and 20 metres wide, with very calm and shallow waters. Except on days with northerly winds, it feels like a huge natural swimming pool, ideal for spending a beach day with children. Like Cala Galdana on the south coast, Arenal d’en Castell is surrounded by a large hotel and numerous apartment complexes, making it a beach largely dominated by foreign tourism. Both on the beach and in the surrounding urban area, you will find all the typical services of sun-and-beach tourist resorts. There is no shortage of sun umbrellas and loungers occupying a large part of the beach, and in the resort you will find hotels, apartments, restaurants and all kinds of services such as pharmacies, car hire, a diving centre, kayak rental, shops, a water park, bars, etc.
How to get to Arenal d’en Castell
Via the road that connects Maó with Fornells, you must reach the Alaior roundabout and head towards Addaia and Na Macaret, passing through the Coves Noves residential area. Following this road to the end, you will arrive at Arenal d’en Castell. You will find one car park right at the end of the road and another a few metres further to the right.

• Distance between Ciutadella and Arenal d’en Castell (view map on Google Maps): 44 km (46 min).
Public transport: During the tourist season, there is a bus line to Arenal d’en Castell from Maó and Alaior. Check bus timetables and frequencies according to the time of year.
What to do in Arenal d’en Castell
Camí de Cavalls: Arenal d’en Castell is the starting and finishing point of two stages of the Camí de Cavalls, although these are not among the most attractive stretches of this marked trail. The best option is a short walk along the cliff edge following the Camí de Cavalls westwards, towards the Son Saura North Beach (also known as the Son Parc beaches), another of the urbanised beaches on Menorca’s north coast.
