Cala Trebal\u00fager is one of Menorca\u2019s most beautiful unspoiled beaches. It is framed by limestone cliffs and shaded by pine trees that reach down to the shoreline. The beach is marked by the mouth of the Son Fideu ravine stream. There are no facilities or direct car access, but the walk is well worth it for the pristine scenery.<\/h3>\n

Cala Trebal\u00fager<\/strong> may not be as famous as some other unspoiled beaches in Menorca, such as Cala Mitjana<\/a><\/strong>, Cala Turqueta<\/a><\/strong>, or Cala Macarella<\/a><\/strong>, but it is equally stunning. Like these postcard-perfect beaches, Cala Trebal\u00fager<\/strong> features turquoise waters and soft white sand, typical of Menorca\u2019s southern coast. Nestled between medium-height cliffs, the beach is wide and spacious. Its dune system acts as a natural barrier between the sea and the fertile Son Fideu ravine, where small crops thrive.<\/p>\n

The Trebal\u00fager stream holds water year-round, even in summer, forming a shallow pool before reaching the sea unless heavy rain causes it to rise. On the opposite side of the beach, the terrain is gentler, with a pine forest providing shade during the hottest hours.<\/p>\n

Cala Trebal\u00fager<\/strong> is not part of the Cam\u00ed de Cavalls<\/strong><\/a> route, making it a less crowded unspoiled beach on the south coast of Menorca. However, it is still popular in summer, and you will often find visitors. There are usually several anchored boats<\/a>, and some tourist boat excursions<\/a> from Cala Galdana<\/strong> stop here.<\/p>\n

This beach is fully exposed to southerly winds. Always check the weather in Menorca<\/a> before visiting, and avoid days with strong southern winds for the best experience at Cala Trebal\u00fager<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Conservation of Cala Trebal\u00fager and water quality<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/i><\/span> Thanks to citizen action in the 1980s, Cala Trebal\u00fager<\/strong> has remained an unspoiled paradise. However, water quality has been affected by pollution from the Ferreries wastewater treatment plant. Originally designed for domestic water, it also received industrial effluents. Analyses in 2012 detected high levels of mercury, arsenic, and zinc. How to reach Cala Trebal\u00fager<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/i> The easiest way to reach Cala Trebal\u00fager<\/strong> is by walking from Cala Mitjana<\/a><\/strong>. On the left side of the beach, a trail climbs a steep slope with stone steps to the top of the cliff. From there, a flat path through a pine forest leads to Cala Trebal\u00fager<\/strong>. To access the beach, descend another steep section with stone steps. You may need to remove your shoes to cross the stream.

<\/i> <\/i> Cala Mitjana<\/a><\/strong> is about 8 km from Ferreries<\/strong>. From there, head to Cala Galdana<\/a><\/strong>. Whether coming from Ma\u00f3<\/strong> or Ciutadella<\/strong>, you do not need to enter Ferreries. The 1-km path to Cala Mitjana<\/strong> passes through a forest and takes about 20 minutes downhill. The trail is well maintained and crosses a scenic holm oak forest, with historical markers of old forestry activities such as lime kilns, charcoal pits, and livestock huts.<\/p>\n

Check schedules from Ma\u00f3-Alaior-Es Mercadal (51), Ciutadella (52), and Ferreries (53)<\/a>. You can also walk 20 minutes from Cala Galdana<\/strong> along a short 1-km section of the Cam\u00ed de Cavalls<\/strong>, starting from the Sa Punta viewpoint<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
