Torralba d\u2019en Salort is remarkable for its enormous taula<\/i> and its enclosure<\/h2>\n

The\u00a0taula <\/i>of\u00a0<\/i>Torralba d’en Salort <\/strong>talayotic villlage\u00a0<\/strong>is one of the largest on Menorca and is perfectly preserved. This site also boasts two talaiots<\/i>, <\/b>a hypostyle room<\/b>, a number of caves excavated in the bedrock and a section of cyclopean wall<\/b>. It was inhabited between the year 1000 BC and the arrival of the Romans, although remains dating from the seventeenth century and a chapel indicate that it was also occupied in the Middle Ages. During the visit there are also ethnological elements on view that do not belong to the Talayotic period \u2013 a threshing floor, a small limestone quarry, a well and a cattle house. Terracotta and bonze artefacts found at this site are on display in the Museum of Menorca in Ma\u00f3<\/b>.<\/p>\n

How to get there<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/i> <\/i> The Talayotic site of Torralba d\u2019en Salort <\/b>is 4.5 km from Alaior<\/b>. From this town, take the road towards Cala en Porter<\/b>. If you come from the main Ma\u00f3-Ciutadella road, there is no need to enter Alaior<\/b> as there is a turn-off signposted to Cala en Porter that takes you to the entrance to the site. If you come from Sant Climent<\/b>, at 8 km from the site you can take the road towards Cala en Porter<\/b>. In 4 km, turn right on the road to Alaior<\/b> and you will pass the site after 4 km.<\/p>\n

<\/i> There is no public transport to the\u00a0Torralba d\u2019en Salort\u00a0prehistoric village<\/strong><\/p>\n
